
Leyte (also Northern Leyte) is a province in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. It occupies the northern three-quarters of Leyte Island and has Tacloban as its capital. Leyte is situated west of Samar Island, north of Southern Leyte, and south of Biliran.
