One of the most significant conservation areas in the Philippines, Mount Malindang is protected as the Mount Malindang Range Natural Park, situated mainly in Misamis Occidental, near the cities of Oroquieta and Ozamiz. It is a complex mountain range with great biodiversity and cultural significance rather than just a single peak. Hikers, mountaineers, nature enthusiasts, researchers, and ecotourists are drawn to Mount Malindang because of its dense tropical forests, waterfalls, rivers, and crater lakes, as well as its high biodiversity, which includes rare and endemic species. Indigenous populations in the area, particularly the Subanen people, hold the mountain in high regard. They depend on its woodlands for their livelihood and view it as a sacred location.
